Is your computer powerful enough for streaming free internet TV broadcast?
The speed of your high speed broadband connection is not so critical. If your download speed is 512kb or more, you can stream online television just fine. However your computer needs a lot of horsepower to get a clear HD quality picture. Your computer should have at minimum a 2.0gb CPU and 1gb of memory. An 3.0gb CPU and 2gb of ram is even better. The next most critical part is the video card. Most of the mass produced computers made in the last 8 years have the video card embedded into the motherboard. Some embedded video cards are good enough, but most are real dogs. Installing a good nVidia or ATI video card with at least 128mb of memory will work, and 256mb is even better. Now your need for speed does not stop here. If your computer is hard wired to the internet, all is fine. If you use a wireless broadband router, make sure the router and the network card has the "wireless-N" rating. The "N" rating is twice as fast as the "G" rating, and the "G" is 3X faster than the "B". If your wireless internet setup is over five years old, you should upgrade. With a fast internet connection and powerful computer, you will be able to experience and watch free internet TV in High Definition (HD) quality.
